ARTEMIS – BLACK

It could be said that the modern classic ARTEMIS was already bordering on perfection. Now, we have repainted its watercolour wildflowers as a perfectly formed border, unfurling against a black backdrop. Inspired by legendary Vogue editor Diana Vreeland’s famous ‘Garden in Hell’ room, this print still feels as dramatic and decadent as ever – so be bold and let it climb all four walls.

For every order placed, House of Hackney will make a donation to Friends of the Earth’s campaign to double the UK tree cover by 2045 – providing a natural defence against climate change as well as a home for wildlife. It’s time for #MoreTreesPlease.

When it comes to hanging our ‘Climbing Walls’ designs, we recommend a technique called “wallpaper stitching”.

Simply follow our step-by-step guide as usual, ensuring the room is cool and well-aired to prevent the wallpaper from shrinking.

Next, reach for some low-tack painter’s masking tape (we recommend FrogTape Yellow for delicate surfaces – just avoid using masking tape as this could damage the protective finish of your wallpaper).

Apply approx. 15cm of the tape across the seams (every 30 – 40cm) to keep them held together. Wait 24 hours for the adhesive paste applied behind your wallpaper to air-dry, then use a hairdryer or a sponge with a little hot water to carefully go over the tape – this makes its glue dissolve, so then the tape can peel off more easily.

As this technique ensures a perfect finish (and prevents any white edges of the wallpaper showing – very important given the solid block-colour backdrops of our ‘Climbing Walls’ collection), it also works well on dark wallpaper prints or old walls with uneven, bumpy surfaces.

For rooms with a low ceiling height or other small spaces in the home, our 2m drop wallpaper will be just right. As the width dimensions remain the same, it’s also perfect for creating half-walls of print against dado rails or bathroom tiles – with the added bonus of less wastage.

House of Hackney wallpaper is incredibly easy to hang – all it takes is a swipe of adhesive paste and a little insider know-how, courtesy of our step-by-step guide. Need help figuring out just how much wallpaper to order? Use our handy wallpaper calculator or contact our Customer Services team.
